The Role:

As a Business Manager, you will support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment and participate in training and developing of salaried and hourly employees, and in the development of highly effective teams. You will support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.


What You Will Do (Responsibilities):

  • Support Functional Leader in the organization and running of the business (staff meetings, special assignments, etc.).

  • Be a support resource for all members and support the coaching, teaching and development of the team.

  • Plan and execute manpower flow.

  • Cover for Shift Leader and Group Leader openings as needed.

  • Execute the portfolio/business planning process.

  • Manage and plan assignments along with priority goals and requirements in the preparation of difficult projects.

  • Develop and maintain the project business cases (deliverables, benefits, timing).

  • Analyze execution of Functional Initiatives versus the Functional Business plan.

  • Interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data and recommend solutions to unusual problems.

  • Manages budgets.

  • Execute the Functional competitive assessment process.

  • Collect and analyze key operating metrics for the group.

  • Handle a variety of special assignments.

  • Develop and conduct presentations for all levels of management.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ year of experience in Manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)

  • Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed

  • Microsoft, Outlook, HCC/Gameday, Kronos, PM&C, PR&T

  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)  

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering

  • 7+ years of manufacturing experience

  • Multiple department experience in Automotive Manufacturing preferred.

  • Proven track record in terms of eliciting work output.

  • Preferred leader well versed in being a catalyst to drive performance results (GMS, DRR, Float Reduction, FTQ)

  • Experience working with the UAW

  • Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience
