The Body Controls Calibration & System Test Team is looking for a Passive Safety and Occupant Protection System Calibration and Test Engineer to join our organization! Our area is rapidly growing and is being transformed due to the adoption of software-defined architecture. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in future technologies GM is introducing in Body electronics/Mechatronics space. The Passive Safety and Occupant Protection System Calibration and Test Engineer will:
- Lead Passive Safety and Occupant Protection feature, system and solution testing (manual and automated) on virtual, bench and vehicle test environments.
- Work cross-functionally with system safety, system engineering, design release, suppliers etc. to develop robust test methodologies for safety critical features.
- Lead test automation development and execution
- Collect data using advanced test equipment.
- Analyze, review results and document failures via PRTS, Jira etc.
- Author validation reports (CG190 etc.)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, DSU etc.)
- Deliver configuration calibrations to support different vehicle platforms.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support regulatory and compliance relevant initiatives for Passive Safety and Occupant Protection features.
- Lead system test issue resolution initiatives
- Lead best practices and process improvement initiatives.
- Support program team reviews and demos.
- Maintain communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in Engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering, or Computer Science
- Experince in programming/scripting (Python etc.)
- Experience with Test automation framework (Autobot, Autoval etc.)
- Valid US Driver License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree/PhD in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, or Computer Science
- Experience with different passive safety relevant regulations and associated test methodologies (EuroNCAP, FMVSS208, FMVSS563 etc.)
- Experience with embedded SW development for Sensing Diagnostics Module (SDM), Automatic Occupant Sensing (AOS), airbags etc.
- Experience with vehicle and bench validation at component or subsystem level
- Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZER Tools etc.)
- Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) process and familiarity with Gherkin.
- Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Jira and other configuration management, version control and code quality tools.
- Experience with virtual testing (CoSIM/GMSIM or other platform).
- Working knowledge of embedded software development using C/Matlab/Simulink and associated tools (Jira, DOORS, Rhapsody, GIT etc.)
- Quick to learn, ambitious, and willing to work hands-on with GM's vehicles and benches.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction.
