We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to join our Lansing Delta Township team as a Production Shift Leader in Body, Paint, or General Assembly.
We are building three award-winning SUVs with very high customer demand and it is an exciting time in our facility. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of salary and hourly talent. Train salary group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for department in the production operation and foster an atmosphere of teamwork, cooperation, and inclusion. You will be responsible for engaging your team during their shifts to maintain the highest levels of safety, productivity, quality, and throughput. To achieve this, shift leaders are expected to provide their teams with the tools needed for success while driving improvements in productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving. Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent judgement.
Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for supporting, mentoring, and motivating your salary and hourly workforce.

Coordinate and collaborate across multiple departments / support teams to meet business objectives, including cost and schedule demands to support plant operations

Manage safety, productivity, quality, throughput, and Cost for your Department

Provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems

Administer corporate and site policies

Utilize the workplace safety system to achieve safety metrics and maintain the safety and organization of the workplace

Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities for the department and site

Manage salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation

Compliance with the terms of the local and national labor agreements

Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE)

Must possess the ability to deal with complex problems
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
-
5+ years of experience in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM preferred)

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
-
Ability to lead problem solving activities and leverage analytical abilities.

Leadership/Management Experience (UAW, Salaried, Skilled Trades or similar)

Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)

Must be able to work any shift
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
-
7+ years of experience in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM preferred)
-
Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
-
Production experience
-
Experience within Body, Paint, or General Assembly
-
Experience in applying GMS and quality processes to meet BIQ IV requirements.
This role may be eligible for relocation benefits.
On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township Assembly on a full-time basis.
