To strengthen our motorsports program, we are seeking an Applied Vehicle Dynamics Track Modeling Engineer to aid in the utilization and maintenance of our virtual track inventory across all race series. The goal of this position is to provide valuable engineering support that results in on track performance improvement. You will work with race team members and fellow GM vehicle dynamics engineers to perform QC analysis on virtual tracks, facilitate track graphics and terrain updates, and aid in development and refinement of vehicle modeling inputs. You will be expected to complete all projects to the highest standards. You must be proficient in completing engineering related tasks using computer software, have aptitude for proactively engaging with the wider GM Motorsports team that utilizes the simulation toolchain, and have high attention to detail.
What You’ll Do

Perform virtual track adjustments and quality control using 3D graphics creation suites and GM Motorsports simulation toolchain

Work with GM Motorsports groups to generate modeling updates which capture specific on-track conditions

Document and communicate track modeling updates across all relevant GM Motorsports groups

Maintain and develop software code utilized in virtual track management processes

Generate track related visual driver aids used during DiL simulator sessions

Perform quality control process for third-party sourced simulation tracks for DiL and offline sim usage

Be part of the broader simulation support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to utilize the simulation toolchain and increase race team performance
What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study

2 or more years of professional experience using graphics creation and editing suites

Highly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationships and strong communicative skills

Exposure to modern software development, tooling and environments

Strong attention to detail with ability to work systematically to complete project requirements

Ability to multi-task in a multifaceted, constantly evolving environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity

Must be a great teammate, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience within a motorsports organization, utilizing simulation
-
Experience using graphics creation and editing suites (Blender, etc.)

Proficiency with motorsports data analysis platforms such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, or McLaren ATLAS
-
Prior experience utilizing rFactor Pro Motorsport applications

Experience working with LiDAR 3D point clouds

Familiarity with modern software development tools and environments, including C#, Python and Git

Experience working with Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulators
