WHY: The purpose of this role is to enhance the quality and reliability of GM vehicles by focusing on defect prevention, warranty reduction, and improved Electrical First Time Quality (EFTQ). As a key contributor of the Global Manufacturing Electrical Launch team, this position ensures that Vehicle Assembly Plants (VAP’s) can effectively build and validate electrical systems as designed.

WHAT: As a Global Manufacturing Electrical Launch Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful launch of vehicles by driving excellence in electrical system integration.

HOW: By partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Plant teams to proactively identify and resolve electrical integration risks, standardize best practices, and drive data-informed decisions that improve launch readiness, reduce defects, and elevate Electrical First Time Quality (EFTQ).

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires a minimum of 50% domestic & international travel.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV support:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in electrical launch processes, support facilities during vehicle launches

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve launch related issues

  • Provide weekly updates to the Launch Processes and Standardized Work team including emerging program issues and top concerns at VAP’s

  • Escalate issues to leadership, help assist and drive corrective actions

Vehicle Assembly Plant (VAP) support:

  • Partner with VAP electrical teams to ensure compliance with the BoO

  • Support VAP issue resolution and EFTQ improvements

  • Participate in architecture calls to assess plant readiness, virtual builds for program readiness and onsite builds to support integration and validation

  • Train VAP electrical teams/team members on best practices and read across opportunities, processes in place for handling and routing components and wiring and BoO requirements and launch training for electrical systems

Launch Processes and Standardized Work support:

  • Ensure implementation of the electrical Bill of Operation (BoO)

  • Document and share lessons learned & best practices to drive continuous improvement

  • Support improvements to EFTQ, BoO and Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College (AMEC)

Launch Plan Reviews:

  • Monitor the Global Timing Card for launch information and updates

  • Update plant notes for Start of Regular Production (SORP) dates, as needed

  • Maintain documentation for VAP’s

  • Load the correct launch plan into plant folder and ensure evidence is provided to meet deliverables to support Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews (MQRR)

  • Weekly tracking and communication, variety of related tasks

  • Support and participate in Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews (MQRR)

Additional:

  • Active participation in Business Plan Deployment (BPD) and weekly huddle

  • Roll out of Launch Bill of Operation (BoO) updates and new releases

  • Align with other technical strategies to support launches

  • Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.

  • Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Hands-on experience in electrical manufacturing processes including optimization and troubleshooting

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems and control methodologies

  • Ability to analyze technical problems and implement data driven solutions

  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments with the ability to troubleshoot and provide root-cause analysis

  • Familiarity with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles and vehicle program launch processes

  • Communication skills and the ability to perform cross-functionally

  • Interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and drive changes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Expertise in vehicle program launches with an understanding of integration and validation requirements

  • Knowledge of Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles and their application on larger scale operations

  • Foundations in electrical engineering including implementation in electrical systems

  • Experience in cross-functional teams, driving innovation and process improvements
