Job Description

The Finance Data Governance and Integration Manager is responsible for establishing and leading the governance framework for finance data across the enterprise. This role ensures that financial data is accurate, consistent, well‑controlled, and effectively used to support reporting, planning, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision‑making. Additionally, this role reviews changes protentional to the FoF program to ensure new initiatives are aligned to the Future of Finance Imperatives and do not create redundancy.  The manager partners with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to define data standards, policies, and processes, and to drive adoption through ongoing stewardship and change management.


Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Strategy

  • Define and maintain the finance data governance framework , including principles, policies, and standards.
  • Establish and chair or co‑chair finance data governance councils/working groups to align priorities and resolve issues.
  • Identify and prioritize critical finance data domains (e.g., chart of accounts, cost centers, products, customers, legal entities) and define ownership models.


Data Quality, Controls & Compliance

  • Define data quality rules, metrics, and thresholds for key finance data elements; monitor and report performance against them.
  • Partner with process owners to design and implement preventative and detective controls over finance master and reference data.
  • Coordinate remediation of data quality issues, driving root‑cause analysis and sustainable process fixes.
  • Ensure finance data governance supports regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements (e.g., SOX, statutory, tax).


Data Architecture & Standards

  • Collaborate with architecture and IT teams to align finance data models, master data structures, and hierarchies across core platforms (e.g., ERP, consolidation, planning, analytics, and reporting).
  • Define and maintain standard definitions, business rules, and metadata for finance data elements in a business glossary/data catalog.
  • Support design and governance of reporting and analytics structures (e.g., dimensions, hierarchies, aggregates) to enable consistent reporting across systems.


Operating Model & Stewardship

  • Design and implement a finance data operating model , including roles, responsibilities, and RACI for data owners, stewards, and custodians.
  • Coach and support data owners and stewards in executing governance processes (e.g., change requests, approvals, issue management).
  • Develop and maintain standard processes and workflows for finance master data creation, maintenance, and deactivation.


Change Management & Engagement

  • Drive stakeholder engagement across Finance, IT, and business functions to promote the value of strong data governance.
  • Develop and deliver training, communications, and guidance on data standards, policies, and tools.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to finance leadership on data governance implications of major initiatives (system implementations, reorganizations, new products, acquisitions).


Tools, Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with technology teams to select, implement, or optimize data governance, master data management (MDM), and data quality tools .
  • Define KPIs and dashboards to measure governance effectiveness and data quality over time.
  • Continuously review and improve governance processes to increase efficiency, adoption, and business value .

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Management , or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Typically 7+ years of experience in Finance, Data Governance, Master Data Management, or related roles.
  • Experience working with enterprise finance systems (e.g., ERP, consolidation, planning, and reporting platforms).
  • Proven track record leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of finance processes (record‑to‑report, plan‑to‑perform, order‑to‑cash, procure‑to‑pay, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, data quality, and master data management concepts and best practices.
  • Ability to translate between business requirements and technical data/solution design .
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills , with the ability to explain data concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills , with a structured approach to issue resolution and prioritization.
  • Demonstrated change management and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • High level of attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to data integrity and control .


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in data governance, data management, or analytics (e.g., DAMA, CDMP) are a plus.
  • Experience with data catalog, data quality, and MDM tools .
  • Background in regulated or complex, global environments with multiple legal entities and currencies.
  • Prior experience supporting finance transformation or large‑scale system implementations.
     

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren Mi three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
