A culture to be proud of
Creating an inclusive, innovative, forward-thinking place to work is far from easy
But it starts and ends with us. We act with integrity, work as one team, and take accountability for our actions, behaviors and results. Everyone can safely share their ideas and opinions, and bring their experiences and authentic self to GM
In 2021 alone, our GM Cares initiative saw over 15,000 employees donating over 95,000 hours of voluntary service across 367 projects
Our global products and operations will be carbon neutral by 2040. As part of our strategy to help reduce emissions, we’re planning to source 100% renewable energy in the U.S. by 2025 and globally by 2035
We’ve donated $22m to help community development projects in the last 5 years, engaging with dozens of non-profit organizations
What makes our culture so special?
It’s a combination of a number of things we value and encourage…
Diversity, equity, and inclusion
People at General Motors are encouraged to create moments that value opinions, backgrounds, and ideas that may be different than their own. We're collaborative, we treat one another with respect, and we all share a desire to innovate and achieve.
We aspire to be the most inclusive company in the world. We’re a team of 173,00 people, working across 23 time zones in 5 continents and speaking 70 languages, and every day, we will take steps to reach our aspiration.
Mentorship and growth
We’ve invested in and committed to mentorship, exceptional training, and plenty of networking opportunities—offering a variety of resources to apply your skills and passion and create fulfilling opportunities for your career.
We offer resources to help employees reach their full potential, including upskilling and training opportunities, internal learning resources, college tuition assistance, technical education programs, the Take2 program, connection to global peers and mentors, and other professional development opportunities.

"Work Appropriately" is a philosophy that enables us to achieve these aspirations. Depending on the nature of their work, our employees have the flexibility to work where they can have the greatest impact to achieve their goals and for their individual success.
