Remote: This position does not require the employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis. This position requires an employee to cover territory visits to dealerships in a reoccurring frequency. This role will require regular in-market visits to dealerships, offering flexibility while maintaining strong field presence.
The selected candidate will assume territorial responsibility for the North Central Zone (Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio) and must reside within the assigned territory.
The Role
GM Fleet has traditionally been a leader of fleet vehicle sales in the commercial segments. Going forward is transforming beyond vehicle sales, bringing holistic Business to Business (B2B) & Business to Government (B2G) solutions to small, medium and large organizations; focusing on complete end-to-end B2B/B2G solutions to help our partners meet their business goals. To meet business objectives, the GM B2G team is looking for a Commercial Zone Manager. The ZM will promote a customer-first approach to improve sales performance and revenue within an assigned book of business.
What You’ll Do

Lead Commercial Zone Team to exceed Business Elite and Regional Small Business and Dealer Fleet objectives in support of volume goals

Mentor, train, coach and develop commercial district manager talent

Facilitate team sharing of best practices

Maintain and Grow Business Elite network

Ensure Business Elite standard compliance and effectiveness of participants

Manage Business Elite Dealer Network by evaluating sales and market share performance and addressing underperforming points

Identify and engage additional Dealers to become Business Elite Dealers

Coordinate and execute commercial training meetings to grow professionalism and sales

Work on small business/dealer fleet lead follow-through with Dealers

Encourage Dealer BDC implementation to help grow commercial sales and increase small business service retention

Analyze market opportunities and work with team to develop strategies and plans to grow the business

Serve as the subject matter expert to retail teams on the commercial business

Work with regional zone teams to grow small business and dealer fleet sales at all GM stores

Coordinate and maximize Co-op Fund usage

Capture Specific Opportunities with Ad-hoc Teams/Initiatives

Participate in Regional Truck Club meetings

Support Government FAE in dealer related issues

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
-
7+ years of combined, progressive experience across field sales, marketing, or dealer operations, with demonstrated success in driving performance and leading cross-functional initiatives

Demonstrated experience in leading and developing employees
-
Highly developed oral & written communication skills.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others both within & outside the organization.

Computer skills to develop, maintain & analyze data.

Excellent organizing & planning skills to coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks.

Ability to work independently & deal with conflicting priorities.

Ability to think strategically and creatively.

Broad knowledge of problem analysis methodologies & ability to develop resolutions.

Good understanding of dealer operations, including sales, service & parts.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

Knowledge of organizational structure & GM systems

2+ yrs experience leading a sales team strongly preferred

3+ yrs Dealer contact experience (OEM preferred)

This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
