Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. this means the successful candidate to report to the GM office full time.
The Role:
We are looking for a Production Engineer to support and improve assembly operations within our CKD manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for ensuring smooth production flow, optimizing line performance, reducing downtime, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and planning teams to drive continuous improvement and achieve daily production targets.
What You'll Do:

Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.

Participates in the training, developing, and evaluating of hourly team members.

Participates in the development of highly effective teams.
-
Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.

Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.
-
Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues.

Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, and management.
-
Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements of General Motors. Implements and follows systems that prevent re occurrence of known issues.

Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.

Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
-
Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.

Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualification)
Educational and Experience Background:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Production engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or any related engineering degree.
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, continuous improvement, or operational excellence.
-
Strong knowledge of production processes, process optimization, and manufacturing best practices.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Experience in the Body shop assemblies in automotive fields (welding, riveting, metal finishing) is preferred.
Technical Skills:
-
Production line balancing and manpower balancing to maintain smooth flow and hit output targets.
-
Strong knowledge of assembly processes, workstation design, and production workflow improvement.
-
Takle and solve daily production constraints though effective root cause analysis utilizing tools like 5 whys, fishbone, A3 problem solving.
-
Lean manufacturing, waste elimination, and throughput improvement utilizing six sigma tools and methodologies (DMAIC, Basic statistical analysis).

Ability to identify and eliminate waste and knowledge of waste types.
-
Quality control and process validation, including basic quality tools and understanding of PFMEA / quality systems.
-
Layout, material flow, and documentation skills using tools such as AutoCAD, Teamcenter, and MS Project.

Ergonomics assessment and continuous improvement of operations for safety and efficiency.

Troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving in manufacturing operations.
-
Basic process automation or reporting skills, such as Power BI, as an added advantage.

Good understanding of workplace safety and standardized work in a manufacturing environment.
