The Design Release Engineering Senior Analyst – Thermal and Cabin Comfort supports the release and execution of HVAC, cabin comfort, and related thermal components from concept through production. This role contributes to technical definition, timing, cross-functional coordination, and issue resolution under the guidance of more senior engineers to help deliver quality, cost, and customer comfort targets.
The Analyst works with product engineering, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, validation, purchasing, vehicle integration, and program teams to ensure design data, documentation, and releases are accurate, complete, and aligned with functional, regulatory, cost, timing, and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Support release of HVAC and thermal components through the product development cycle, following established processes and standards.

Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including requirements, BOM updates, release records, and simple change notices.

Assist in developing specifications, drawings, and validation plans for thermal and cabin comfort components.

Collect, organize, and analyze test, build, and supplier data to support design decisions and issue resolution.

Coordinate with cross-functional partners (quality, manufacturing, validation, suppliers) to track open items, status, and timing commitments.

Participate in DFMEA, DVP, design reviews, and lessons learned, documenting actions and updating records as directed.

Support structured problem solving, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions for design, build, or validation issues.

Provide launch and prototype build support (e.g., part tracking, issue logging, simple containment actions) with guidance from senior engineers.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive, or related engineering field.

Experience or strong internship/co-op background in product engineering, design release, component development, or vehicle/system integration.

Foundational knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, materials, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturing concepts.

Experience with CAD and/or product lifecycle or release systems (academic, co-op, or professional).

Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers or cross-functional teams to track issues, data, and timing.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy.

Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Exposure to automotive thermal systems, HVAC, cabin comfort, or vehicle climate performance through coursework, projects, or experience.

Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, or PPAP concepts (classroom or practical).

Understanding of basic thermal performance concepts such as defog/defrost, airflow, and cabin comfort metrics.

Exposure to HVAC modules, heat exchangers, ducts, blowers, refrigerant systems, sensors, or actuators.

Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, scripting, or basic data visualization) to support engineering decisions.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role.
