Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. this means the successful candidate to report to the GM office full time.

The Role

Facility Projects Supervisor leads the planning and execution of facility projects to support GM’s manufacturing strategy, safety, quality, and capacity requirements. The role manages cross-functional project teams and contractors, controls scope, timing, and budget, and ensures all projects are delivered safely, on time, and in line with GM standards and GM Manufacturing System (GMS) principles.

What You'll Do

  • Lead end-to-end execution of facility projects (e.g., new production areas, building modifications, layout changes, infrastructure renewals).

  • Translate business requirements from manufacturing, maintenance, EHS, and other stakeholders into clear project scopes and deliverables.

  • Develop project plans including timelines, milestones, resource plans, and risk assessments; track progress and drive issue resolution.

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control, value engineering, and alignment with GM capital and expense guidelines.

  • Coordinate technical studies, site surveys, and feasibility assessments for proposed facility changes.

  • Work with engineering, maintenance, and external design offices to develop and review technical specifications, layouts, and drawings.

  • Lead contractor and supplier management for project work, including RFQs, technical evaluations, kickoff meetings, daily coordination, and performance follow‑up.

  • Ensure all project activities comply with GM safety standards, environmental regulations, and local legal requirements, including method statements and permits to work.

  • Plan and supervise construction and installation activities on site, ensuring quality of workmanship, adherence to specifications, and minimal impact to ongoing production.

  • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to plan shutdowns and tie‑ins, ensuring safe and efficient execution and rapid restart of operations.

  • Drive project change management, including scope changes, risk mitigation actions, and communication of impacts to timing and cost.

  • Ensure proper commissioning, testing, and validation of new facility systems and modifications before handover to operations.

  • Secure complete documentation at project close (as‑built drawings, manuals, warranties, asset data) and ensure smooth handover to maintenance and operations.

  • Apply GMS and basic lean tools (5S, standardization, visual management) in project delivery and in the design of new or modified areas.

  • Provide regular status updates and reports to leadership on project portfolio, highlighting risks, mitigations, and decisions required.

  • Support continuous improvement of project management processes, standards, and tools within the Facilities function.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualification)

Educational and Experience Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.

  • 7 ~ 10 years of experience in facility projects, construction, industrial projects, or engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising construction/installation works and managing contractors on site.

  • Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of facility and utility systems (e.g., building structures, electrical distribution, compressed air, HVAC, water and wastewater, fire protection, site infrastructure).

  • Experience in project planning and scheduling (e.g., Gantt charts, milestones, critical path).

  • Ability to read and review technical drawings, layouts and construction details.

  • Basic knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control for projects.

  • Practical application of risk assessment and safe work practices for construction and shutdown activities (including LOTO, working at height, confined space, hot work, lifting operations).

  • Experience coordinating with maintenance and production teams for tie‑ins and commissioning.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office tools for reporting and analysis; experience with project management or collaboration tools is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with GMS/lean concepts and their application in facility and layout design.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with internal customers and external partners.

  • Ability to influence decisions and drive alignment without direct authority over all stakeholders.

  • Organized and disciplined in planning, follow-up, documentation, and closure.
