Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Tonawanda facility on a full-time basis.
The Role:
Accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, instructing, and coaching to site/functional operations. They are responsible for assisting Site Leadership with the following to maintain compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements.
Analyzing Workplace Safety data and communicating results and trends along with continuous improvement opportunities; Assessing site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Help manage the site as a Subject Matter Expert on Workplace Safety requirements;
- Work in partnership with the Local Union & Site leadership to support Workplace Safety cultural transformation;
- Develop and educate site employees to drive Workplace Safety cultural transformation; and Developing partnerships with key site personnel including Plant Leadership, HR, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics resources, and Health Services.
- Assist in Investigating accidents and/or injuries: conduct safety audits, surveys, and inspections to verify compliance levels
- Develop basic safety programs as directed to reduce job related injuries
- Assist in the design and administration of plant safety rules and instructions
- Review new equipment and methods for potential hazards
- Assist supervisors in the safety training of employees
- Create safety-related reports and presentations as directed
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene / related discipline or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with OSHA workplace safety processes
- Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan with UAW team
- Well developed analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Well developed written and verbal communications skills
- Well developed use of HR Systems and Computer Software Application skills
- Must be able to work on any shift and weekends as needed
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
- The salary range for this role is $71,300 to $109,400. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
