Description
DUTIES: Represent Manufacturing in all interactions with Product Engineering, Program Teams, Product/Architecture Leads, and Program Execution Manufacturing Engineers. Analyze product designs and collaborate with Product Engineering to incorporate Manufacturing Requirements, ensure manufacturability, ergonomic feasibility, and adherence to standard General Assembly processes. Communicate design changes, requirements, risks, manufacturability concerns, and product information to Product Interface/Architecture Leads, Program Execution ME, and other stakeholders. Communicate Lessons Learned to Global Integration Architects (Product TIEs) and Technical Process TIEs to drive continuous improvement. Enforce compliance to General Assembly strategies and validate program alignment to Vehicle Manufacturing Requirements. Execute and/or support the deviation approval process when requirements or strategies cannot be met, including tracking, documenting, and escalating deviations to leadership as required. Analyze overall program and enterprise impact to help set the best direction for GM from a manufacturing standpoint. Plan, conduct, and assess virtual studies and simulations throughout the Vehicle Development Process, including: Virtual Reality (VR) reviews; Static and dynamic studies; Process virtual builds; and Ergonomic checks/assessments. Identify and communicate potential ergonomic issues to the program ergonomist and ensure they are addressed in the product and process. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field of study. Two (2) years of experience as a Maintenance Area Supervisor, Senior Engineer – Trim, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation. Must also have two (2) years of experience with: Manufacturing Engineering, including Program Iaunch, Execution, and Assembly Plant; and Product design compliance with manufacturing requirements and assembly plant processes. One (1) year of experience with: Systems Manufacturing Engineering processes, including Manufacturing Planning Studies, Value added Assembler, Manufacturing Requirements Data Base, Engineering Changes Database, Issue, Best practice, Manufacturing Requirements databases, Design for Assembly, Process Failure Mode Analysis System and processes; Global Vehicle Development process, Global Launch Process, Problem Resolution Tracking System, and Lean Material Strategies, Bill of Equipment, Bill of process; Development of new vehicle programs including
assembly build of process, manufacturing requirements, vehicle systems global strategies and inter-buildability and flexibility requirements; and Vehicle assembly manufacturing plants including product and process designs during early development of new vehicle programs.
