Description

The Role

The Cyber Security Incident Handler investigates, coordinates, and resolves cyber security incidents across the enterprise. This role is responsible for the timely triage of alerts, development of investigative hypotheses, evidence collection, host analysis, containment, eradication, recovery support, documentation, and escalation of incidents based on risk and business impact.

In addition to handling incidents, the role improves the repeatability and scalability of response operations by identifying manual or error-prone processes and converting them into documented workflows, automations, integrations, and reusable investigative tools. The successful candidate should be able to develop or maintain Python-based utilities, parsers, dashboards, and command-line tools; build GitHub Actions and CI/CD workflows; and manage security capabilities through Terraform, GitOps, source control, and peer-reviewed deployment practices. The role also supports integrations with threat-intelligence and collaboration platforms such as MISP, Slack, GitHub, Confluence, and Sguil to improve investigation, enrichment, notification, and knowledge sharing.

What You'll Do

  • Triage and investigate security alerts and incidents involving endpoints, identities, malware, suspicious processes, persistence mechanisms, network activity, and potential data exposure.
  • Develop investigative plans, gather and preserve relevant evidence, analyze endpoint telemetry and live-response results, and document findings.
  • Perform or coordinate approved containment, eradication, and remediation actions, including host isolation, live response, file retrieval or removal, directory cleanup, scheduled-task removal, and related endpoint actions.
  • Use CrowdStrike Falcon, Next-Gen SIEM, live-response tooling, IT Automation, and other security platforms to investigate and respond to incidents.
  • Coordinate incident activities with Response, Detect, Endpoint, Engineering, Insider Threat, Threat Intelligence, and other stakeholders.
  • Assess incident severity, business impact, scope, and risk; escalate appropriately and provide clear status updates to technical and leadership audiences.
  • Identify indicators of compromise and investigative leads, and collaborate with detection and intelligence teams to improve correlation rules, threat hunting, and monitoring coverage.
  • Create complete, accurate, and durable incident documentation, including timelines, investigative actions, evidence, containment decisions, root-cause findings, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to and maintain response playbooks, wiki content, workflow documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Identify recurring operational friction and help develop secure automation, scripts, dashboards, integrations, and workflows that improve responder efficiency.
  • Test new response capabilities, validate safeguards and permissions, and support deployment across appropriate development, test, and production environments.
  • Participate in incident reviews, process improvement, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing activities across Security Operations.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Incident Response and Investigation

  • Incident triage, scoping, evidence collection, endpoint investigation, containment, remediation, and operational recovery.
  • Windows live-response design and deployment, including multi-host workflows, timeout handling, YARA scanning, file retrieval, and file removal.

CrowdStrike and Endpoint Security

  • CrowdStrike Falcon administration and engineering across Fusion Workflows, IT Automation, Next-Gen SIEM, custom IOA rules, lookup files, detections, APIs, and endpoint response.
  • Design of workflows for directory removal, scheduled-task removal, live-response deployment, file operations, host-online notification, detection auto-closure, host containment, and BitLocker recovery actions.
  • CrowdStrike integrations with Slack, MISP, Sguil, GitHub, and other operational tools.
  • Experience developing correlation rules, including real-time NGSIEM rules and rules supporting suspected DPRK activity investigations.

Automation and Software Development

  • Python development for security exports, command-line utilities, API integrations, data transformation, and operational services.

GitHub, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code

  • GitHub repository design, pull-request-based delivery, GitHub Actions, GitHub Pages, workflow automation, and cross-repository synchronization.
  • Multi-environment CI/CD deployment for CrowdStrike and Velociraptor capabilities.

Detection, Threat Intelligence, and Analytics

  • Architecture of MISP-to-CrowdStrike IOC integration for Intel and Detect.
  • Migration and recovery of more than 80 Next-Gen SIEM correlation rules after an author-permission dependency created operational risk.

Documentation, Enablement, and Leadership

  • Consolidation and migration of Response, Security Operations, Detect, Engineering, and NSM SID documentation into a unified GitHub Pages wiki.
  • Creation of automated incident-writeup synchronization from GitHub wiki to Confluence.
  • Strong technical documentation skills covering deployment, single-host and multi-host use, timeout configuration, troubleshooting, and operational procedures.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Velociraptor or comparable endpoint live-response platforms.
  • Experience with YARA, endpoint telemetry, host artifacts, and forensic collection workflows.
  • Experience integrating MISP, CrowdStrike, Slack, Confluence, GitHub, Sguil, Databricks, or comparable enterprise security platforms.
  • Experience supporting regulated or highly governed enterprise environments.
  • Experience contributing to open-source security or infrastructure tooling.
  • Experience migrating documentation or operational content between wiki platforms.
  • Experience designing secure automation with role-based access, audit trails, approval controls, and rollback considerations.
