Title: Sr. Distinguished Software Engineer

Matt Fornero is a Senior Distinguished Software Engineer in General Motors' Autonomy organization. He provides technical leadership across autonomy strategy, system architecture, and engineering execution, with a current focus on accelerating system development through faster, more reliable simulation, testing, and measurement. His technical expertise spans embedded systems, hardware-software co-design, and large-scale robotics platform software.

Before joining GM, Matt spent nearly eight years at Cruise, where he led embedded systems and robotics platform efforts for the production autonomous vehicle system that drove more than five million fully driverless miles. His work included improving vehicle-platform resiliency and creating common software foundations across dozens of on-vehicle computers.

Earlier, Matt held technical leadership roles at MathWorks and A&D Technology, working across high-speed signal processing, embedded Linux, and real-time measurement and control systems. Matt earned a BSE in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
