The Role

The Launch Electrical Process Coordinator is a key launch team member responsible for ensuring manufacturing requirements, best practices, and Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) elements are implemented and sustained throughout launch. This role supports new, major, and Global B/VIP launches, helps ensure in-process testers are successfully executed when applicable, and participates in the Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College (AMEC) to complete required training ahead of launch activities. The position serves as a critical plant resource across Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality, and Product Development, helping drive plant readiness, electrical quality, issue resolution, and successful start of regular production.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Serve as a member of Flint Assembly’s Electrical Team, working across Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality, and Product Development to resolve top internal and external quality concerns

  • Report to the Lead Launch Electrical Coordinator and support launch execution for new, major, and Global B/VIP programs

  • Complete required training at GM sites and supplier locations through the Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College (AMEC)

  • Implement the Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) and ensure ongoing compliance after implementation

  • Take ownership of BoO Element 310 for plant electrical training and support training of VAA plants on Electrical BoO processes

  • Support Lead Wiring Coordinator activities, including supplier visits and wiring-related launch support

  • Participate in Vehicle Systems ME-led architecture working calls to understand new product content and assess plant-specific impacts

  • Participate in virtual builds, program reviews, and applicable Virtual Assessment gates

  • Assist in identifying wire harness hanking requirements for harness delivery

  • Review and assess new connection systems from a manufacturing perspective, including robustness, ease of use, and bent pin protection

  • Represent the plant’s voice in wiring harness assessments before, during, and after PTB

  • Support the Electrical IRT and host or support in-plant Wiring Harness Assessments with the Launch Team

  • Support plant readiness for MVB builds, including BoO 314 Launch Aid requirements

  • Ensure JES and GSIP use consistent terminology for repair and production operators by helping provide standard language for core team use based on IVEDs

  • Document lessons learned and translate electrical failures into actionable items for issue tracking and follow-up

  • Utilize plant quality reporting systems such as GSIP, MERS, PRTS, and SPPS to identify and reduce process and product variation

  • Utilize plant testing systems such as Flash, Static, AVT, and DVT to improve and correlate plant electrical performance to warranty results

  • Support GCA activities and overall launch quality readiness

  • Conduct training on vehicle electrical systems for Team Leaders so they can support Team Members using Electrical Training Boards, PADs, JES, TIS, and related tools

  • Learn new technologies associated with Global B Electrical Architecture and effectively transfer key learnings to plant team members

  • Support in-process testers and partner with production and engineering teams to eliminate defects

  • Coordinate and apply key learnings from other plants launching Global B prior to local site execution

  • Track launch-related issues to closure prior to SORP

  • Promote safe work practices and support objectives related to ergonomics, health, safety, housekeeping, and standardized work

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with hourly teams, leadership, union partners, and cross-functional stakeholders

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience

  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

  • Ability to work off-shift and overtime as needed

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, launch activities, pilot activities, or production readiness efforts

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, standardized work, and continuous improvement principles

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive issues to closure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and build productive relationships with plant leadership, operations, engineering, quality, and union partners

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience

  • Experience with automotive electrical subsystems

  • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical field or equivalent practical experience

  • Prior manufacturing plant experience in electrical operations or plant floor operations

  • Experience in Electrical Engineering

  • Supervisory experience on the plant floor or experience managing UAW-represented employees

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing requirements and how they impact the vehicle build process

  • Experience in a launch manufacturing environment

  • Experience with Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO), plant electrical testing systems, or wiring harness assessments

  • Experience supporting Global B electrical architecture, in-process testers, or vehicle electrical training

The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role.
