Mainframe Systems & Services is a leading innovator in Mainframe Platform Engineering, committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions and exceptional reliability to our 100+ tenant applications. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead our Mainframe Platform team in Limerick, which plays a vital role being part of our overall global platform engineering team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the Mainframe Platform engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement platform strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals which achieve our defined KSIs and KPIs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform performance, security, and reliability to achieve in maximum platform availability.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence which ensure future sustainability of the mainframe platform with new talent development.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively using GM IT tools with an expectation for comprehensive and ongoing management reporting.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the platform remains competitive and up-to-date such as IBM Znext, AI Capabilities, OpenSource advantages, and alternative solutioning options supporting enhanced development productivity.
  • Deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience related to engineering platforms. Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers, driving innovation and excellence.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Exhibits a proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to anticipate and address challenges.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Fosters a collaborative and inclusive team environment with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Exceptional communication for executive reporting and interpersonal skills for team motivation.

What Can give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Expertise in platform engineering technologies service offerings and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of modern software development lifecycle tools and practices, including DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Awareness of platform security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with cloud integration and hybrid environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrable strong working knowledge coupled with experience across multiple layers of the full tech stack engineering landscape is an advantage.

Hybrid

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our Dublin/ Limerick office three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business
