About the Role:
At General Motors, we’re redefining the future of mobility—and that starts with how we design and engineer our vehicles. We are seeking motivated, forward-thinking Design Release Engineers to help shape the next generation of vehicle structures.
In this role, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of components within Body/Chassis structures, driving design, development, validation, and launch across the full vehicle lifecycle. You’ll work on highly visible programs, partnering cross-functionally to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that meet performance, cost, and timing targets.

What You’ll Do

Own the design release and execution of body/chassis structure components from concept through production

Lead technical development for components and/or new technologies within vehicle programs

Drive engineering decisions by balancing performance, cost, weight, and timing

Conduct design analysis and validate designs through testing and development activities

Collaborate cross-functionally with design studio, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers

Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, and production launch activities

Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities

Ensure components meet GM technical standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations

Communicate complex technical topics clearly to leadership and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field

2+ years of engineering experience in product development or design
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in Body/Chassis structure components or related systems
-
Knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, and Design for Six Sigma methodologies

Familiarity with advanced materials (e.g., high-strength steel, alloys) and manufacturing processes

Understanding of FMVSS crash and regulatory requirements

Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
