Description
Position reports to the General Motors Central America and The Caribbean (GMCC) Director. The primary purpose is to develop and execute a marketing strategy that maximizes the opportunity provided by the product, market trends, and dealer network.
In addition, the Marketing Manager is the product expert on the Marketing Team with responsibility for ensuring that the team and the dealer net has correct product information for developing marketing strategies and communications.
Finally, it is a great responsibility to analyze, propose and request, every portfolio opportunity to the region.
Position responsibilities:
- Assume leadership role in developing positioning, marketing strategy, and marketing plan
- Assume leadership role in analyzing and developing product content and packaging, obtain approvals
- Analyze data to get incentives implemented
- Agreement with Finance and Planning on product lineup and launches strategy and execution
- For new and MCM products, develop comprehensive launch plan
- Leverage marketing information to uncover key competitive opportunities
- Develop strategies and plans that support region objectives and obtain approvals
- Interface with the research community to leverage existing research and propose new research that support objectives
- Assure alignment between Advertising activities and Marketing plan at dealer net
- Develop communications message based on critical product attributes and market trends to provide foundation for dealer, wholesale, and media messages
- Ensure all consumer communications, dealer communications, press releases, dealer order guides, etc. are messaged effectively and include correct information
- Support Product Manager in working with the VLE Team
- Manage Marketing Team interface with Distribution, Field (Sales), Dealer Committee, etc.
- Manage the activities of Marketing Specialists
- Ensure customer needs and divisional marketing character are represented in product decisions
- Support the development of Market Specifications for future product programs
- Provide ongoing marketing feedback to PET/VLE Teams and conversely, product information to the Marketing Team
- Participate in trade-off decisions/conflict resolution between functional areas
- Ensure Marketing Team is knowledgeable on critical product strengths/weaknesses versus competition to assist in key message development and product training
- Leverage knowledge of the PET/VLE Teams in developing key messages and product training
- Working with PET/VLE Teams to ensure the necessary product is available in the region
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work effectively with others in a leadership role
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments utilizing highly efficient time management skills
- Highly developed marketing skills
- Ability to synthesize data into critical information
- Ability to make/recognize effective trade-off decisions that balance multiple considerations
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in Spanish and English
- Highly developed presentation skills both in the development and delivery of presentation
- High level of analytical ability
- High level of product knowledge
- Ability to build trust and credibility with third parties (agencies and dealer net)
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
- Diverse marketing experiences preferred
- Cross-functional experience preferred, with sales/service/marketing/product development/manufacturing experience
- Dealer contact preferred
- Experience working on events planning and execution is preferred
