The Role
Project Manager to lead supplier performance and operational excellence across technical training facilities and day-to-day training operations. This role helps ensure training centers are safe, efficient, scalable, and ready to support high-quality technician learning experiences that strengthen service readiness across the GM dealer network.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management discipline, supplier governance experience, and the ability to work across training, field, finance, procurement, safety, and operations teams. This person will help create a consistent and high-quality training environment that supports throughput, learner satisfaction, and business priorities across locations.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Lead the business relationship with the external supplier responsible for technical training facilities and operations, serving as the primary point of contact for performance, delivery, and issue resolution.

Manage supplier performance against statement of work commitments, service levels, key performance indicators, and business expectations related to facility readiness, class delivery, utilization, and learner satisfaction.

Oversee the operational readiness of classroom, lab, and shop environments so training locations are safe, organized, and consistently ready for class.

Drive scheduling, capacity planning, and resource coordination across classrooms, bays, tools, equipment, and vehicles to meet training demand and improve throughput.

Partner with internal stakeholders to align facility and operations plans with curriculum needs, launch timing, and business priorities.

Lead regular business reviews with supplier leadership, track risks and corrective actions, and escalate issues as needed to protect delivery and learner experience.

Use data to monitor throughput, utilization, on-time start performance, cancellation trends, and learner satisfaction, and translate insights into continuous improvement actions.

Support pilots and rollout of new tools, processes, and technologies that improve the efficiency, quality, and consistency of training delivery.

Standardize operating procedures and playbooks to create a more consistent training center experience across locations.

Provide clear updates to leadership on operational performance, risks, mitigation plans, and improvement opportunities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

3-5 years or more years of experience in project management, program management, operations management, supplier management, or training operations.

Experience managing third-party suppliers or outsourced operations with performance metrics and service expectations.

Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution with measurable business impact.

Strong analytical skills and experience using reporting, dashboards, or operational metrics to drive decisions and continuous improvement.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to identify bottlenecks, solve problems quickly, and improve operational flow across complex environments.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience in automotive, technical training, dealer service, aftersales, manufacturing, or field operations environments.

Experience overseeing training centers, shop environments, labs, classrooms, or other operational learning spaces.

Experience supporting technician learning, service readiness, or training delivery operations.

Familiarity with learning management systems, scheduling tools, or operational reporting systems used to support training programs.

Project Management Professional certification or equivalent project management training.

Experience with continuous improvement methods that improve flow, reduce waste, and increase throughput.

Up to 25 percent travel to regional training centers and supplier locations may be required.
